Business – forge your own path
It’s pleasing that Australia is one of only 10 countries with AAA rating from all three global ratings agencies (AFR Weekend 22-23 Sep 2018) but let’s not get complacent. Much is resting on world demand for our commodities, if we consider a long term future it’s much better to look to our R&D investment. That’s not so shiny. The AMGC Sector Competitive Plan of 2017 notes that Australian business investment is a lowly 1.19% (of GDP). Okay some countries are lower, but do we want to be like them? Our Government direct investment is paltry too.
We are not the Poor White Trash of Asian as Mr Lee Kwan Yew prophesied in 1980, but we are letting opportunities rush past us. Investment needs to be higher to secure high livings standards for all generations in employment, and those to come. Your organisation counts. What are you doing about it? Resting complacently on the growth in Asia or forging your own path? If you’ve got your strategy in place but not getting traction, you may find this process useful. 4 Minute video.
Why not give it a try.
